Silverstream Alpaca Farm Tour

Just 20 minutes north of Christchurch, near Kaiapoi, is Silverstream Alpaca Stud farm, home to over 120 gorgeous alpacas, possibly one of the most captivating and inquisitive animals in the world.

This expansive stream-lined property with extensive gardens explodes with colour in the spring and summer and coupled with the song of the bellbird and other wildlife, makes for an unforgettable experience.

Kit and Sheryl (the owners) have been entertaining visitors to their farm for over 20 years and always strive to ensure that visitors receive an enjoyable farm experience and depart with fond memories.

A farm tour at Silverstream provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the alpaca while enjoying an informative and entertaining commentary from the owner (Kit).

We guarantee close interaction with the animals which will include feeding (from your hands), cuddling, touching, holding babies (in season) and many, many selfies with you and the alpaca.

Photography and videography are actively encouraged.

Any nervousness the visitor may have evaporates quickly and is replaced with a sense of excitement, awe and beauty of these magnificent animals.

The alpaca which is part of the camelid family and originates from Peru and Chile in South America is bred  for its incredibly fine and soft, handling fibre.
